Explain quantum computing in simple terms

 

Quantum computing is a type of computing that uses quantum-mechanical phenomena, such as superposition and entanglement, to perform operations on data. In contrast to classical computers, which use bits to represent data and process information, quantum computers use quantum bits, or qubits. Qubits can exist in multiple states simultaneously, which allows quantum computers to perform certain types of calculations much faster than classical computers. The most well-known example is the Shor's algorithm which solves the problem of factoring integers exponentially faster than any known classical algorithm. However, quantum computing is still in its infancy and it is not yet clear how much it will be able to improve over classical computing for most tasks.
